Tyre TypeThe Ampere Primus is a high-speed electric scooter from Ampere, positioned as a premium offering for the urban commuter. It boasts a powerful mid-mounted motor, a top speed of 77 km/h, and an impressive range of over 100 km, making it a strong competitor to many petrol scooters.
The Ampere Primus marks a significant step for Ampere into the high-speed electric scooter segment, designed to compete directly with established petrol scooters. It offers a compelling blend of performance, range, and modern features, making it an attractive option for users seeking a powerful and eco-friendly urban mobility solution. While not officially available in Bangladesh, its specifications make it a noteworthy model in the premium e-scooter space.
At the core of the Primus is a 3.4kW (rated) mid-mounted PMS motor that delivers a peak power of 4kW. This robust powertrain enables the scooter to accelerate from 0-40 km/h in under 5 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 77 km/h. It features three riding modes – Eco, City, and Power, plus a Reverse mode for added convenience.
The scooter is equipped with a high-performance 3 kWh Lithium Ferro-Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which is known for its safety and longer lifespan. This battery provides an ARAI-certified range of 107 km on a single charge in Power mode. A full charge from 0 to 100% takes approximately 5 hours using a standard 15-amp home socket. The battery is fixed and not portable.
The Ampere Primus is built on a sturdy underbone chassis with a telescopic front suspension and dual rear shock absorbers for a comfortable ride. It features a practical design with a large 22-litre under-seat storage space, a wide and comfortable seat, and ample legroom. The digital instrument cluster supports Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. For safety, it uses a Combi Brake System (CBS) for its front and rear drum brakes.
Should the Ampere Primus be introduced in Bangladesh, it would cater to the growing demand for high-performance electric scooters. Its impressive top speed, long range, and premium features would make it a strong alternative to 125cc petrol scooters, offering significant savings on running costs. The expected price, based on its Indian market value of around ₹1.10 Lakh, would position it as a premium yet competitive choice.
