Tyre TypeThe Ampere Magnus Pro was a popular electric scooter from Indian manufacturer Ampere, known for its practical design and detachable battery. Although now discontinued and succeeded by the Magnus EX, it offered a balanced mix of performance and range suitable for city commuting.
The Ampere Magnus Pro was a well-regarded electric scooter from the Indian EV brand Ampere, which has since been discontinued and replaced by the newer Magnus EX model. The Magnus Pro was designed as a practical, no-frills urban commuter, offering a good balance of performance, comfort, and utility. While you can no longer buy it new, it set the stage for its successor and is a useful reference point in the evolution of affordable electric scooters.
The Magnus Pro was equipped with a 1200W BLDC hub motor, which provided a top speed of around 55 km/h. This performance was delivered in two modes, including a high-speed 'Power' mode and a range-saving 'Eco' mode. The scooter featured a 60V, 30Ah advanced lithium-ion battery. A key feature was that this battery was detachable, allowing for convenient charging at home or the office. A full charge took about 5-6 hours and delivered a claimed range of 75-80 km in Eco mode.
With a conventional and clean scooter design, the Magnus Pro was built for practicality. It featured a telescopic front suspension and a coil spring at the rear, providing a comfortable ride over city bumps. The braking system consisted of 130mm drum brakes on both wheels, enhanced with a combined braking system (CBS) for safety. The scooter was lightweight, at just 82 kg, making it very easy to handle.
It came with a good set of features for its time, including a full digital dashboard, a bright LED headlight, a boot light for the under-seat storage, a USB charging port, and an anti-theft alarm with remote keyless entry.
Although the Ampere Magnus Pro is no longer in production, its successor, the Ampere Magnus EX, builds upon its foundation with an improved certified range and other refinements. The Magnus Pro is not officially available in Bangladesh, but its last known price in India was approximately ₹79,966. For riders in Bangladesh looking for a similar experience, the Magnus EX would be the model to watch for.
